PHYSICAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS
FALL 2021
COURSE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
The goal of the physical education department is to develop students physically, socially, mentally, and ethically so that they become well-rounded, healthy, responsible, and productive citizens. The curriculum is developed to invoke success, self-confidence, and enthusiasm for each student within every activity or unit.
Students will learn about sports/recreational activities, sportsmanship, teamwork, and nutrition. Students will develop their physical ability in the areas of agility, strength, balance, coordination and flexibility as they become aware that participation in physical activities is fun.

Attendance/Participation 65%
Weight Room Days 10%
Run Days 10%
Dress 15%
ATTENDANCE/PARTICIPATION (65%):
You will earn points on a daily basis for attendance and participation. You will receive zero points for an unexcused absence. Being tardy three times equals one unexcused absence.
Each student is expected to TRY to his or her best ability. You will not be graded on skill, but rather on effort and your commitment to improving in all activities. Participation will be evaluated on, but it is not limited to the following: warm up, stretching, activity set up, team games, individual progress during instruction, attentiveness, and cooperation with classmates. It is the teacher’s discretion to take off points for lack of participation.
DRESS POLICY (15%):
Students are required to wear appropriate clothing and shoes to PE class. There are no PE uniforms at Marin Oaks. Students are required to have on clothing that allows them to fully participate in all activities in a safe manner. Tennis shoes are required. Students who do not bring tennis shoes to class will lose their dress points for the day.

- Do not try to guess your grade, find out directly whenever you have a question.
- If you fall behind, it is your responsibility to contact me on how to obtain make up work.
- Come prepared for both indoor and outdoor activities.
